Bloomsbury Academy – Downtown is located in Toronto’s Garden District, just steps from the Financial District and hospitals, providing families with convenient access to best in class early learning in the heart of the city. Through Montessori-based teaching, small class sizes and a personalized approach to education, the centre offers licensed early learning programs for children aged 18 months to 6 years within a nurturing and engaging environment designed to support every stage of development.
Our bright and spacious school features thoughtfully designed classrooms serving toddler, preschool, and kindergarten-age children. Our programming is grounded in evidence-based best practices and international curriculum standards, ensuring that children start their primary school years with confidence, independence and an academic advantage, academic advantage, Parents receive clear progress reporting throughout the year, while children enjoy enriched learning that supports cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
At Bloomsbury Academy, we value children’s physical well-being as much as their cognitive growth. Our indoor gymnasium space provides ample opportunity for muscle development and coordination through our multi-sports programs. With an emphasis on whole foods and low sugar menus, our nutritious snacks and lunches fuel children’s minds and growing bodies.

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) & Certified Montessori Guide
As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and certified Montessori Guide with more than 25 years of experience, I am passionate about creating high-quality early learning environments that support children’s growth, independence, and overall well-being. My approach combines evidence-based educational practices, Montessori principles, and a strong focus on school readiness, while fostering safe, nurturing, and engaging spaces where every child feels valued and supported. Drawing on extensive leadership experience, specialized training in child development and self-regulation, and my perspective as a parent, I am committed to building welcoming communities for children and families through meaningful relationships, open communication, and a collaborative, family-centred approach.

Bloomsbury Academy welcomes children from 18 months to 6 years, with programs tailored to toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten-aged children. At some of our schools, we offer a limited number of infant spots, integrated with junior toddlers, for children over 12 months of age. Please inquire about our limited enrollment infant program for terms and conditions.

We incorporate the best elements of Montessori education, including independence, hands-on learning along with evidence-based approaches to children’s cognitive development. This includes a strong emphasis on SEL (social-emotional learning) and self-regulation

What are your teacher-to-child ratios?

We maintain ratios that meet or exceed provincial licensing requirements. Children spend time in small learning groups of 5 to 8 children to focus on language and early math skills. Bloomsbury Academy supports the value of playful direct instruction for preschoolers to help build their capacity to focus.
