Bloomsbury Academy – Yorkdale is in North York within Fitzrovia’s vibrant Sloane community, offering a thoughtfully designed early learning environment for children aged 18 months to 6 years. The centre features four dedicated classrooms serving toddler, preschool, and kindergarten-age children, with programming grounded in evidence-based, internationally informed curriculum standards and Montessori-inspired principles.

Meet the Faculty
Fathima Jameel
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and Montessori-trained educator with over five years of experience in early childhood education and childcare leadership, I am passionate about creating high-quality learning environments that support children’s growth, independence, and overall well-being.
My approach combines Montessori principles, evidence-based educational practices, and a strong focus on fostering confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. I believe every child learns differently and is committed to creating safe, nurturing, and inclusive spaces where each child feels valued and supported.
I hold a MACTE-accredited Montessori CASA Diploma, an Early Childhood Education Diploma with Honours, and I am currently completing my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Educational Studies with a specialization in Special Education. Through my experience working with children, families, and educators in both Montessori and play-based settings, I have developed a collaborative, family-centred approach to leadership and education.

Bloomsbury Academy welcomes children from 18 months to 6 years, with programs tailored to toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten-aged children. At some of our schools, we offer a limited number of infant spots, integrated with junior toddlers, for children over 12 months of age. Please inquire about our limited enrollment infant program for terms and conditions.

Is Bloomsbury a Montessori school?

Bloomsbury Academy focuses on school readiness to ensure children start primary school with confidence in their reading, writing and early math skills. We incorporate the best elements of Montessori education, including independence, hands-on learning along with evidence-based approaches to children’s cognitive development. This includes a strong emphasis on SEL (social-emotional learning) and self-regulation.

What are your teacher-to-child ratios?

We maintain ratios that meet or exceed provincial licensing requirements. Children spend time in small learning groups of 5 to 8 children to focus on language and early math skills. Bloomsbury Academy supports the value of playful direct instruction for preschoolers to help build their capacity to focus.
